Many response services offer support 48-72 hours after a serious or traumatic incident, but what about directly after, prior to going off duty? Our belief is that if defusing is implemented correctly prior to staff going off duty, often the need for further ongoing trauma support is not needed.
It is assumed in many organisations that managers and supervisors should possess defusing skills, when the reality is very few are trained and even less feel confident about defusing a member of staff effectively.
This course aims to change all of that. It will enable managers and supervisors to possess the confidence and skills to put in place a specialist defusing package for response services personnel.
The benefit of implementing the Blue Light Trauma Service defusing model is that all defusing will be done in-house by the organisations own line managers and members of staff after having been trained up.
There is also a refresher course available and advisable to be done yearly, which allows attendees to look at developments to the programme and also be able to voice issues and concerns and to have them addressed by a trained member of the team.
